Following the sold out run of Noughts and Crosses at The Brady Arts Centre in April 2016, which special guest Stormzy attended, we were invited to further explore the themes and ideas within the play, and to create an entirely new piece of work at the Barbican Centre early in June 2016. We will perform the work at the Rich Mix Youth Takeover Festival on July 30th 2016.

This was a brilliant opportunity to work at one of the UK’s most prestigious arts venues, to learn new collaborative theatre-making process, and to connect with a network of talented young practitioners.
Actors included:

  • dsc_4846Khadijah Hayden
  • Comfort Rachael
  • Jacob Turner
  • Isha Thomas
  • Aeron Sylvestor
  • Selin Gokunsur
  • Roy Sulce
  • Jess Walsh
  • Samuel Ade
  • Zenahrai Medley-Singh
  • Sendeniz Caliskan

The group devised a new performance at the Barbican during the three days of rehearsal. We then performed the work in The Pit Theatre to an invited audience of theatre professionals at 4PM on Wednesday 2nd June.

The dates for the Barbican Laboratory Project were:

  • Tuesday 31st May 10AM – 6PM
  • Wednesday 1st June 10AM – 6PM
  • Thursday 2nd June 10AM – 6PM

This time to experiment allowed us to explore, play and delve into what really mattered to us as a collective. We were then able to channel this into an abstract and powerful piece of theatre.

We got some fantastic feedback and will be using it to further develop the piece into an interactive workshop which will be included in the Rich Mix Youth Takeover Festival on July 30th 2016
